At Orchard House we provide both silver (Amalgam) fillings and white (Composite) fillings.Did you know that Fillings can be used for more than just filling a hole in a tooth? Many people do not realise that they can be used to reshape teeth to help give the patient a different shaped tooth for example a tooth that has been worn down by grinding or clenching can fixed with a small composite filling, this will build up the damaged tooth to it's normal height and shape. Some people may even want teeth to be a different shape, this can also be achieved using a simple composite filling material. Amalgam fillings are commonly used for back teeth as they are less visable and it is a hard wearing filling material. If an NHS patients would like a white filling on their back tooth they can ask the dentist about the option as currently under the NHS it is classed as a cosmetic treatment and will not be covered by your band 2 charge.
